Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between home and commercial units?
Commercial machines are designed for high-volume restaurant/bar operations. They perform specific drink and/or food preparation tasks repeatedly and come with a one-year limited warranty and instruction manual. Commercial units are only available through restaurant supply houses. Household units are designed for a wide variety of operations and come with a seven-year warranty, cookbooks, and instructional DVD's.
What prevents the Vitamix machine from burning out like other "blenders"?
The Vitamix machine is built with a high efficiency radial cooling fan and has a built-in thermal protection system to prevent overload and burnout.
How can the same machine cook soups AND freeze ice cream?
The high-speed blade action is the secret to friction cooking and making frozen foods in the Vitamix machine! When making ice cream, the high-performance Hammer Mill and cutting blades crush frozen ingredients and release coldness. Vitamix processing is so fast, there is no time for melting and the mixture refreezes itself. When cooking soups, the blade speed builds a friction heat that can bring fresh ingredients to boiling point in four to six minutes.
What’s the key difference between the dry container and the wet container?
The wet container's blades are ideal for processing ‘wet’ foods, like juices, soups and frozen treats. The container is designed to pull food through the blades during processing. In comparison, the dry container has blades specially designed for grinding whole grains and kneading bread dough. The dry blades push foods up and away, keeping the mixture cooler so the grinding of grains is more efficient. This also assists when kneading sticky dough.
